So thrilled to be in The Guardian’s ‘five of t So thrilled to be in The Guardian’s ‘five of the best’ romance books of 2024! 😱🥳 This one came a bit of a surprise but what an amazing early Christmas present and almost-finish to my debut year. I was so so happy when I saw this, and also to see my book merrily wedged in the photo between two fantastic bestselling books! I wrote this story with my whole heart so it’s amazing to see it being called a proper Christmas page-turner 🤗🎄If you’d like to read Robbie and Jenn’s love story this Xmas or beyond then copies are at the beautiful independents and Waterstones and there is a wonderful audio version by @bolinda too, which would make an excellent listen while doing your Xmas shopping.

(It’s also available for 99p for a limited time on kindle as another option!)

Visited the gorgeous Book Lovers Bookshop in Edinb Visited the gorgeous Book Lovers Bookshop in Edinburgh yesterday to sign some copies of The Echoes of Us and my goodness did I love it. Imagine, a whole bookshop dedicated to love stories? 😍 It’s so cute and packed out with beautiful books - I just had to get a couple of course. Including Lovelight Farms on pic 3. It’s the first I’ve read of @authorbkborison but I can see why her books are doing so well! At this time of year I really quite enjoy a decent Christmas romance and as soon as I heard her work has got a bit of a Nora Ephron vibe I was in 🙌 I’ll have what she’s having and all that! 😂💖 have you read any?

Anyway, freshly signed copies of my book available there now or do pop in to see the incredible range of love stories 📚. The whole shop actually has a bit of an Ephron vibe given it’s sitting just by The (very pretty) Meadows with Victor Hugo coffee only a stones throw away. Winter perfection.

The Echoes of Us is a kindle monthly deal AGAIN th The Echoes of Us is a kindle monthly deal AGAIN this December 🥳🎄 and I’m so chuffed as it really does have such a strong Christmas link this love story.

I’ll never forget the first time I read A Christmas Carol when I was a child - in front of an actual fire no less! (Scroll to pic 3 to see the copy I had- picture credit for my mum 🤗😂) It really stayed with me, the idea of a man looking back through his past to see where he went wrong and coming out the other side ultimately changed for the better. It was the perfect story arc in my head. With the whole ‘shared-death experience’ in the The Echoes of Us, it allows Robbie similarly to look back, not through his eyes, but through the person he loves eyes’. And after living for fun for a long time, he sees some things he doesn’t enjoy about himself…there are romantic gestures on icy nights, memories of poinsettia, Christmas jumper parties with the scent of orange peel, awkward declarations in snowy gardens, burnt turkeys in childhood, but the main message in this book is love 💖 so if you fancy picking it up for a slightly alternative Christmas read this year, with big notes of Scrooge, now is definitely the time… 🤗📚

As ever also, if you want to read or gift the beautiful hard back of this book, which is currently out in a very merry pink 🎄, you can find copies in Waterstones and the beautiful independents. I JUST signed some fresh ones in @bookloversbookshop which I’ll post about tomorrow 💖🤗

SUPER chuffed to be in this next July 😍 what an SUPER chuffed to be in this next July 😍 what an amazing line up of authors! I heard so many wonderful things about it this year, so I’m psyched to head down from Scotland for it and take in the scenes of Manchester- I do love me a writing road trip, and getting to know more readers and writers. I also love a love story and am in the midst of writing my third love story as we SPEAK 💖. Do give me a shout if you’ll be at it 🤗📚.

Quite a lovely action packed weekend as it turned Quite a lovely action packed weekend as it turned out this one. In brief:

1. Woke up to snow on the west coast at my parents after driving through the eve before- managed to get a cheeky snow shot of The Echoes of Us 😂. There is a very Xmassy side/influence to it which I will explain at some point soon.
2. Said snow outside the house.
3. NARNIA out the house 😱 mum said deer never came down that far in Helensburgh but they did this time and it was so cool.
4. Baby bear ready for snow play, had actual snowball fights which was so fun.
5. Snow angels on the street 😂.
6. Then we went down to the lights-turning-on show, which the girls love as lots of flashing lights etc. Just for balance, Daisy had an epic tantrum after about leaving 😂, but after all the excitement of the day we probably had this coming.
7. Floss doing flips on the jumping ride thing.
8. Cheeky, unexpected spa visit the next day - this is not my normal life but was very needed with lots of back pains recently (likely stress) and Dad looked after the girls for me.
9. Gorgeous views in the winter light once the snow had melted off.
10. Girls climbing trees, which I do love though Flora got a bad scratch from a branch. But I’m sure I was covered in tree scratches growing up so hopefully fine soon.

Bookish/filmish side note - still reading Orbital slowly, I’m enjoying it though it’s quite dense despite its little size and a particular type of read. Anyone read it? Watched Testament of Youth with mum as loved the book in my teens and also the IVF film Joy 🤗.

How was your weekend?

Had such a fab time chatting about The Echoes of U Had such a fab time chatting about The Echoes of Us and writing generally at Morton Fraser MacRobert’s amazing new offices last night. It was something of an Edinburgh eve generally with Pickerings Gin providing delicious cocktails to wet the bookish chatter and The Edinburgh Bookshop coming to sell the books on the night! Writing really is such an isolated activity a lot of the time so it’s so brilliant coming out into the wild and speaking to lots of enthusiastic readers 💖💖. It also had that lovely full circle feeling again, coming into a law firm and chatting about the literary world - and thanks so much for the excellent chairing, Chairman Jenny! And thinking up the event 🤗🤗📚

Copies of The Echoes of Us are available in The Edinburgh Bookshop now if you’re looking for a copy (and all the usual places 📚)!
